Donate Goods
People have also donated money and goods, including furniture, appliances, plants and landscaping materials, and medical equipment. If you would like to make this kind of donation, please contact our Director, Dr. Ann Cutcher at 360-331-4699 to make arrangements.
Donate Stock
Gifting stock (including shares of individual stock, mutual funds, or index funds) from brokerage (non-retirement) accounts is a great way to have a big impact and to avoid having to pay capital gains on those positions in the future. Contact us for details about the account we have set up for this purpose.
Donate Directly from a Traditional IRA
If you are over 70.5 years of age, you may gift directly to Enso House from your IRA using a Qualified Charitable Distribution or QCD. This is a great way to avoid income tax on your traditional IRA. This may also include gifting all or a portion of your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) which the IRS requires be taken out each year.
Example: RMD from my IRA for this year is $15,000. By gifting $10,000 of that directly to a 501(c)(3) via a QCD, I avoid having to pay income tax on the $10,000 and the charity gets to receive my full gift of $10,000.
Note: This gift must go directly from your IRA to the charity to be classified as a QCD, so be sure to work with your financial advisor or investment company to ensure it is done correctly. More details are available on the IRS website.
